The Jing Mei “Phoenix Challenge” is an enrichment program intended to provide fun opportunities to students that encourage personal goal setting, trying new things, and confidence building.

Phoenix Challenge submissions will be accepted between Sept 26, 2025 - Mar 20, 2026.
Teachers can help students submit their work. Choose "Teacher Submission" when submitting.
All submissions should be labeled with the student's name, grade, and homeroom teacher.
Book reviews and reports should be in pen or pencil in the student's handwriting.
Writing and artworks must show an element of grade level effort.
Earn a bookmark for every challenge completed!

Choose 1 of these options to complete the challenge.
Invention: Construct an invention (using Legos/other materials) that could solve a problem or make your community/the world better.
Write a short description of your invention
Include how invention works, your inspiration for making it & a picture of it
Upcycled Craft: Create a craft from natural and/or recycled materials.
In your submission explain your craft
Report: Write a 1-page report on one of the following.
A famous scientist and their invention
The history of an invention (ex: the wheel, airplanes, paper, etc.)
STEAM Fair: If there is a school STEAM Fair prior to the last day to submit entries to the Phoenix Challenge (3/20/26), then your individual science experiment project and/or your participation in the fair as part of a school club can qualify as your Science Challenge Submission.
Pre-K - 2nd grader: Submit a picture of your project or how participated in the fair as part of a club
3rd - 5th grader: Submit a picture of your project or how you participated in the fair as part of a club and write a one page summary of your experience

Go on 3 long walks (30 minutes or longer) with your family.
