Phoenix Challenge
The Jing Mei “Phoenix Challenge” is an enrichment program intended to provide fun opportunities to students that encourage personal goal setting, trying new things, and confidence building.

Rules
Phoenix Challenge submissions will be accepted between Sept 20, 2024 - Mar 28, 2025.
Teachers can help students submit their work. Choose "Teacher Submission" when submitting.
All submissions should be labeled with the student's name, grade, and homeroom teacher.
Book reviews and reports should be in pen or pencil in the student's handwriting.
Writing and artworks must show an element of grade level effort.

Collect 30 Phoenix tickets.
Name & Class on each ticket
Submit photo of all 30 tickets at once
Tickets MAY NOT be reused for other rewards.
Complete Jing Mei BINGO.
Literacy
Read 4 books & complete 4 reviews to complete the challenge.
2 books in English
2 books in Mandarin
1 of the 4 books must be about Global History and/or a different culture
Use the correct grade templates to complete 4 book reviews

Science
Choose 1 of these options to complete the challenge.
Construct an invention (using Legos/other materials) that could solve a problem or make your community/the world better.
Write a short description of your invention
Include how invention works, your inspiration for making it & a picture of it
Create a craft from natural and/or recycled materials.
In your submission explain your craft
Use CODE.org to create a game OR solve 15 puzzles.
Submit a screenshot of your 15 puzzles
Submit a video of your family playing the game you created

Write a 1-page report on one of the following.
A famous scientist and their invention
The history of an invention (ex: the wheel, airplanes, paper, etc.)

Volunteer Recess Leader or Lunch Leader in school.

Connect with seniors at Aegis Gardens Newcastle (110 total senior residents)
Write/draw letters for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Lunar New Year, Easter and other occasions for the seniors.
