Jing Mei Annual Giving Fundraiser 2022-23

We will be kicking off our JAG Fundraiser at the end of October!  Help us PAY IT FORWARD >>

Our PTSA does not hold many fundraisers and we use JAG as our primary way to fundraise for the school year.

Help us PAY IT FORWARD so that our students and school community can have an incredible experience. For the 2022-2023 school year, our fundraising goal is $85,000 with a suggested donation of $300/student. Our objective is 100% involvement to showcase our commitment to our community – please donate what you can. You will be receiving more information about JAG in the upcoming weeks.

Why do we fundraise?

We fundraise because we want the best for all our children. Schools are funded through basic education funding by the State of Washington, local levies, and fundraising that are spread across all schools. Local PTSA funding, such as your Jing Mei BMDL-PTSA, ensures that your students directly benefit through additional experiences such as smaller staff-to-student ratio, field trips, and family evening programming.

Through these programs, we can enhance our student learning, support our teachers, and build community. Your support and donation are essential to upholding Jing Mei Elementary School’s excellence.

Jing Mei Annual Giving FAQs

Q: What is Jing Mei Annual Giving (JAG)?
Jing Mei Annual Giving (JAG) is the PTSA’s primary fundraiser. Donations to JAG directly pay for the cost of additional General School Assistants (GSA) in the classroom, curriculum enhancement programs (i.e., field trips, assemblies, classroom experiences, author visits) and many more activities/resources that the Bellevue School District (BSD) and Washington state do not fund.
Q: Why does the PTSA have fundraisers?
We have fundraisers because the limited public school funds cannot provide all the resources and programs we want for our children. PTSAs across BSD raise funds to cover the gap in funding so our children can get the best education possible.
Q: How is the recommended donation determined?
Each year, the PTSA fundraising goal is determined and affected by student needs, PTSA member goals, and the school budget. Historically, approximately 60% of the PSTA budget has been used to fund GSAs. PTSA members have supported this decision to fund GSAs by developing and approving the budget in June for the upcoming year.
Q:  Why do we need more GSAS?
Currently our school has a total of eight GSAs, some of which are funded by our PTSA. The rigorous nature of a dual-language program means that our students need greater support in all subjects. With the support of additional GSAs, we will have more small-group instruction available to our students on a consistent basis and more support in general for all students in
the classroom.
Q:  How much should I give?
The PTSA’s fundraising goal for JAG this year is $85,000. We are asking for a donation of $300 per student. Our objective is 100% participation. We deeply appreciate your help in achieving our goal. Any amount, large or small, will make a difference in your child’s education at Jing Mei.
Q:  How should I give?
We made our fundraising simple so that there is no need to sell or buy any goods. You can drop off your donation form with cash or check payable to BMDL PTSA in a sealed envelope into the PTSA drop box (school front office) or donate through PayPal with email address: financial-secretary@bmdl-ptsa.org.
Q:  How does employer matching work? (Search for BMDL PTSA)
If you or your spouse’s employer matches donations made to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, your donation could be doubled or even tripled! Simply go to your company’s internal website and complete the necessary information. Please search for our PTSA under Bellevue Mandarin Dual Language (BMDL) PTSA.

Note: we are NOT listed under “Jing Mei Elementary” but rather “BMDL PTSA”.
Questions? Email our financial secretary at financial-secretary@bmdl-ptsa.org.
Q:  Can family members other than parents support JAG?
Yes, please spread the word about JAG to family members! We know that grandparents and other family members are proud of their Jing Mei Phoenix. If any of your family members or friends would like to donate, they can submit a check, cash, or PayPal with a donation form.
Q:  What does my donation pay for?
The majority of the PTSA’s funds go directly into programs that benefit your child. Examples of current and past PTSA programs include:
  • Additional General School Assistants (GSAs) who help make the teacher to student ratio more effective in the classroom
  • Curriculum Enhancements (field trips, assemblies, author visits, and classroom experiences)
  • Chinese and English books for classroom libraries
  • Fine arts program (e.g. Reflections Art Competition, Square One Art, Art Night)
